Dec 30th with Black Cobra, and Lightsabers Are Awesome

We just booked a show down in San Jose on December 30th with Black Cobra. We are very happy about this, because Black Cobra is awesome -- check them out if you don't believe me. The show is at The Blank Club, and also has Serpent Crown on the bill. If you want to get tickets in advance, they are available here:

We'll post a flyer as soon as I get my ass in gear and make one. Also, more news on our AMAZING NEW album coming soon. (There's one track over there on the right side of the page.) Merry Christmas!

Halloween Show!

Yeah, so you probably know this already. We are playing a show on Halloween (that's October 31st, by the way) at the El Rio in SF.  Sharing the bill are Juanita and the Rabbit, and Mr. Gnome. Enver made a flyer!

The Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=255862581127205

Mr. Gnome are a fantastic two-piece band from Ohio who deserve your attention. Check out exactly how awesome they are:

Also the show is fairly early (8:30) so you can stop whining about that already and come to what may be the GREATEST Hallween show OF ALL TIME, FOREVER!

Check out "The Feed"

It's a handy little 3-song EP of electronic/industrial music. So no, it has nothing to do with Disastroid music... but it's Travis's little brother's one-man-band, so we're gonna pimp it here.

On top of that, it's really damn good.

Listen and buy on Bandcamp now (for only five damn bucks), otherwise it should be up on CDBaby within a couple weeks.

"Iris Failure" Limited EP Now Out

...and by "out", I mean we have about 80 of them in a box here.

Since we've got a shiny new album on the way but never really got around to doing a proper release of our last little EP, "Iris Failure", I figured I'd give it an unusual treatment and produce a small batch of albums by hand.

The CD case is recycled paper, which I spraypaint stenciled, then stamped with a custom-cut "Disastroid" stamp. I thought it would be fun to go old-school with the insert, so it's a double-sided photocopy featuring art and info. The disc is printed normally (not handmade... the rest of this stuff took me enough damn time.)

Since there aren't very many of these, we'll be selling them at shows only... the next one is Halloween at the El Rio (with Juanita and the Rabbit and Mr. Gnome.) We'll make sure individual tracks are available for sale online too, on iTunes or whatever.

The next Disastroid CD is coming along nicely -- we're already mixing it -- and we hope to have that finished up by November, too!

Show on Sat August 27th

Down in the Mission, at SUB/Mission art and music space. We haven't played there before, but we hear it's pretty cool. Thanks to our friends in Narooma for inviting us to play. Apparently the show goes from around 7 to around 10, or so we're told, so don't show up super late and miss the whole thing.

Here's a flyer with a giant space eyeball in it!

Reocrding is fun

We successfully recorded eight tracks of sludgy goodness at Hyde Street. Next up: vocals, mixing, and mastering. There's a lot still to do but we're hoping to have this new album wrapped up by the end of October. I put it on the other day and my cats freaked out and ran away, so you know it's already pretty good.

Also: two Disastroid posters were recently featured in a Rock Poster Art e-book thingy. Not published yet, but it's a pretty fantastic book, and pretty humbling to be placed next to some unbelievable poster artists. I'll post a link when I have one.

UPDATE: Here's the link!  http://www.thewallbook.com/

Holy Crapture!

Hey!, we know you are pretty bummed out about the whole "Rapture" false alarm thing. Maybe a little "rock and roll" here on earth will lift your spirits while you lift some spirits right into your mouth!

                          Holy Crapture! "Disastroid" kicks ass!

Saturday, June 4th

Friday April 22nd at the El Rio

And heeeeere's the show poster! Tasty sci-fi goodness. The El Rio's cheap and always a good time so come on down.  They'll probably be cooking something up in the back yard.  Show time is around 10, but if you feel like marathon drinking, they got free oysters at 5:30 and burlesque at 7:30!

Change of venue for tonight's show (Wed march 23)

Well hot damn. Mama Buzz Cafe was a little too small to accommodate us. So we walked into the Stork Club next door and asked to play.

They said "sure". Amazing.

So we'll be playing tonight at the Stork -- later in the evening. Thanks to the amazing folks here for being so mellow and flexible!

Attention:

It's "Disastroid".

Not "Disasteroid".

That is all.

Sample city

For a while now I've been trying to figure out an easy way to get interesting samples to trigger live. (That is, without having a laptop up on stage and looking like a bunch of NERDS.) Finally picked up a foot trigger thing that will hopefully do the trick, and should have it up and running as part of the set at Bottom of the Hill next Thursday.

Now I just need to start finding strange and interesting samples. So, any requests? Send 'em our way. Here's your chance to have that slurred voicemail message your drunken asshole ex-girlfriend/ex-boyfriend left you set to the sweet sounds of a Disastroid song.  - TW

Kimos was a evening filled with casual shredding and merciless rocking!

Thanks for all you dedicated fans that came out last night ! Hope you enjoyed the new tunes, we did!

Wednesday January 26th at Kimos

I've been a bit slow on this one.  (It's getting hard to think of cool new posters every show.) But here it is at last...

This show's going to be an interesting one, since we'll be playing mostly new music.  We've basically been going to the practice spot, turning the radio on to classic rock stations, turning it up really loud, and then totally jamming out, really emo-questing and following our auras to peaceful new horizons.  We think you're really going to enjoy the result.

Also on the bill: our friends Big Blue Whale are now The Etz Brothers Holy Mess.  Which means they'll be trying out a bunch of new music, too.

And then there's Die Fistery, who we share a practice spot with. Sure, they put a lot of really lame art on the walls of the rehearsal space -- a lot of unicorns and horses and shit -- but their music is still pretty bone-crushing I guess.

This is a GOOD SHOW.  You should totally come and let us experiment our new sets on you.

Actually we've got another show sooner (January 26th at Kimos), but I went ahead and made this poster anyways.

Disastroid is blogifying

Yeah, we know the old Flash website with 3D glasses and everything was pretty cool.  The only problem was, it was damn hard to update, and made it pretty difficult to find useful information (like, when we are playing and stuff like that.)  So here's a new blog format for the band site, which hopefully will be a little more lively. Let's see how it goes.
