Show at the El Rio Thursday Dec 20th

It's been a good long time since we played our last show in SF, and on December 20th we are back at one of our favorite venues, the El Rio.

It's been so long, in fact, that we got a bunch of new tunes to show you. We're not sure how many will be in the set yet. But some of them are about drug smuggling, intelligent salamanders, and death by overwork. I'm not sure about the others, because Enver changes the words every time. There will also be NEW T-SHIRTS.

It's a Thursday night, but the good news for you creaky old folks is that we're on first, around 9 pm. So if you have to, you can power-slam a few shots of whiskey, catch an awesome rock show, and be home in time to spank your children or watch Matlock or whatever.  But even better, stick around, hang out and watch psych rockers Glitter Wizard and Black Pussy, who are on tour from Portland. (We know how rough that can be. Support independent touring bands! Rock out! Eat tacos!)

Some new... stuff

We updated the site a bit and added new sections for press and an archive for a show posters. Basically we had to do this, because people just won't shut UP about us, and we had to find room to keep all those glowing reviews some place.

Also, the tiny little poster gallery we had wasn't cutting it. Lots of folks have made rad posters for our shows over the years and they deserve to be shown off.

Next order of business is getting some kind of an online store going, so peeps can order albums, t shirts, and maybe even poster prints online. We're working on it. (If anyone's got any advice on how to make this happen -- like, what service to use -- please share your wisdom.)

An August Update

Oh hey there. Do you guys like UPDATES? Who's ready for an UPDATE?! FUCK YEAH!

First off, we are playing two Bay Area shows in the coming week:

Wednesday, August 29 at Eli's Mile High Club in Oakland
with Sludgebucket and The Chiefs (Arizona)

Saturday, September 1st at Bender's Bar in San Francisco
   With Abatis

Check out the flyers by Disastroid's own Enver Koneya and our buddy Josh Rautenberg.

In other news, we got a nice review from the Russian website "Rockway". The write-up is here: http://www.rockway.gr/nees-kyklofories/item/3510-disastroid

...but if that's just crazy gibberish to you, below is a Google translation. If anyone can tell us what a "sverkada" is, we would really love to know. Also, one factual correction: the album WILL INDEED make you run around the house tearing your pants off when you listen to it.

"If Chris Cornell did a party with Josh Homme, it sounded like Mr. Enver Koneya, singer from San Franscisco, Disastroid.

The guy had the dish (and have the necessary skills, of course) to create a complex that will house the voice and found musicians through ads, so do colleges with Braden McGaw (drums, percussion) and Travis Williams (bass). By Enver scraping the strings to the guitar, their sound is a mishmash QOTSA, Soundgarden and Melvis and as he says himself Koneya, play stoner rock for people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Not going to run around your house tearing the pants you wear when you hear the album, but I assure you that will shake sverkada and have a wonderful time.

The opening track "Fallout" with its distinctive bass line from the top shows that talking to a plate with a strong atmosphere of psychedelia and the next "Low" could easily have been the idea of Josh Homme.

The bad news of course is that the 8-track album of Disastroid lasts just 26 minutes. On the other hand, does not need to shoot a musical riff kourazontas durations and the venerable listener's ear. I suggest you check and let me know that after I am wrong!"

"Unfinished Business": Disastroid Returns to the NW

We are lining up a few more shows in the NW next month. We had such a good time on the last trip, we figured we better do it again, plus there's this steak and eggs issue that needs to get addressed. It's a long story.

We'll be at the Ash Street Saloon in Portland, OR on Thursday, July 19. Then we're back at the wonderful High Dive in Seattle on Friday, July 20. Probably at least another show will be incoming on this little trip, so we'll let ya know. Show posters will be incoming as well...

UPDATE: No additional shows added yet, but here's the poster!

UPDATE #2: We just added an additional show on Saturday, July 21 in Eugene, OR! It's at Luckey's Bar, the oldest bar in Eugene. They got pool and cigars too, what more could you ask for?

Tuesday 5/15 @ Knockout in SF

We are capping off our "Scientists Hate Us" Pacific NW tour with a show here in SF at the Knockout, this Tuesday night.  Also playing are Standard Poodle and the always-excellent Belligerator. Please come and we'll tell you all about how they really know how to rock in Eugene, but NOBODY rocks as hard as San Francisco,  etc. etc.

Our sweet, sweet new shirts will be available; we've found they are great for covering your torso.

Finally, here's a really flattering little review our our latest album from a blog called "Metal Odyssey". They thought it was "cool as hell!" That's as much as we could ever hope for:

Pacific Northwest Shows in May

From May 9-12, we'll be heading up north for the first time. We are calling it the SCIENTISTS HATE US TOUR 2012 for reasons that I think should be fairly obvious. We'll be playing the following places:

Little Red Lion in Eureka, CA (May 9)
The High Dive in Seattle (May 10)
O'Malley's in Portland OR (May 11)
The Black Forest in Eugene, OR (May 12)

We are super excited to be visiting the place where that one type of music came from in the 1990s in which everybody wore flannel shirts. Also, I think two of us have lived in Seattle, and I'm from Vancouver, which is basically the same thing.

In addition to the Superhuge Robot poster above, we'll have new t-shirts to commemorate the trip, available at the shows! I'll post some pix once we get 'em in.

Also, check out some of the cool posters that other folks have made for some of the shows:

March Madness!

Early show at the Hemlock on Sunday March 11! We open the show at 7pm, but stick around for some good 'ol stoner metal from Backwoods Payback and Bottom. We booked this for all you folks that have a hard time staying up until midnight to see us... so here you go, you middle-aged bastards -- 7pm! (Actually, we are just as excited as you are.)
